Good Hotel in Centre of City

The hotel is in the centre of the city and has all the facilities one would expect from an hotel of this class, bar, lift, restaurant, car park etc. The car park is small and on a first come basis so checking in early would be sensible.The staff are friendly and speak excellent English.

A very well located hotel, with good front desk people who are let down by management attitudes.

Location is great for exploring Metz. Very pleasant and obliging front desk personnel. Good breakfast and we enjoyed two very good dinners, as it was raining on 2 nights and we didn't want to bother going out again. Room was comfortable, although very crowded by furniture too large for the space. Convenient parking at rear of hotel.

There is no English language TV or other languages other than French. This is very poor for one of the Mercure group of hotels, which promotes itself as welcoming guests from anywhere and everywhere. It seems the management--probably as a cost-saving measure--has not signed up for these channels. Front desk staff were very apologetic, and said they have brought up this subject with management, who just ignores it. What message does that send to foreign guests?? The room lacked enough power points (very inconvenient for charging and operating electronic devices. To be fair, the hotel seems to be undergoing some sort of an upgrade, which will hopefully include bringing rooms up-to-date for the needs of the business traveller. One small quibble: we booked a taxi to take us to the railway station. It turned out to be an unlicenced or unregistered car, not an actual taxi. It had no meter, the driver informing us of the price once at the station. As well, since he wasn't a taxi, he could not drop us right at the station using the taxi entrance. Instead, we were dropped some distance away, across the road, which, as it was raining hard, was very annoying, trying to drag luggage and use an umbrella (not possible, so we got soaked). Hotel staff must use proper, licenced taxis.

Disappointing after our initial stay was so good.

Stayed here 10 days earlier. Loved it. So we thought we'd return on our trip back through Metz. Room decidedly less stylish. Toilet had not been cleaned. Paid more for the room. Two cappuccino's (tiny) €11. Won't be back.

Ok - location good

Location was good for the town centre. The beds and pillows very comfortable. Unfortunately, you cannot book parking but David saved the day for me and gave me the last parking space. I would like them to make it clear it’s first come first served! It may have had an impact on my decision to book. If 5 star rating was based on customer service received from David - he would get my vote! He was kind, helpful and knowledgeable. 5 star employee.

The restaurant was closed on Sundays and consequently, no room service. I’m not sure what constitutes 4 star hotels but I expected there to be a restaurant for residents. The rooms ok but a tired and in need of a refit. Point to note - the black carpets don’t hide the bumps and cracks on the walls and tiles. Great that you supply coffee/tea but how about some milk or powered milk or at least an indication of how to get it. On the whole the stay was ok but for me it didn’t go the 4 star level and certainly doesn’t deserve the 5 star rating they want. Unless we are voting for favourite person!

Great destination and friendly welcome.

Staff are friendly and welcoming. It's a short walk either into the old part of town or, in the other direction, to the Pompidou Centre and commercial shopping area. The breakfast is plentiful and varied and the Lola and Emilie restaurant is well worth using - the food is delicious and the service is excellent.

Well situated good priced hotel

Curtains close and room is super dark, close to train station and easy access to old Town. Lovely restuarants close by.

Noisey hotel inside, if someone baths in another room or comes back from a night out you hear them. If cleaners in and out the rooms you hear doors closing all the time. No soap in bathroom only shower gel.

Very Good

The location is very near the Christmas Markets which was our main purpose in this travel. It has a secured parking space. The Breakfast is excellent with a variety of good choices. Our family had enjoyed the ambiance and the food in the restaurant. All the staff were very accommodating and helpful.

I did not like my bed. It is kinda old and the mattress needs to be replaced.

Very good location near the train station (5 min) and the city center (10 min maybe), great and very helpful personnel, good breakfast. Comfy beds, tea / coffee in the room.

The smell in the room was terrible. I suppose the room used to be a smoking one many years ago and this disgusting smell is still there.

There were items that were unfinished. In the bathroom, the lift was dusty and dirty, the skirting was missing and you could see bare plastered wall.
